Dumfries charity car boot sales to return in May 2021 for first time since coronavirus pandemic began

A weekend charity car boot sale is to return to Dumfries for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic began.

Anne Croucher has been organising popular Sunday car boot sales on the Tesco car park at Cuckoo Bridge for five years.

And she has raised more than £30,000 for three national charities – Diabetes UK, British Heart Foundation and Cancer Research – and dozens of local organisations.

She’s planning to hold the first car boot sale of the year on Sunday, May 2 and is asking the public to vote for which of three Dumfries charities should receive the proceeds.

They are Dumfries’ Support In Mind Scotland, Alzheimer’s Scotland in the town, and Dumfries and Galloway Blood Bikes.

Voting on her Anne Croucher in the Community Facebook page ends next Tuesday.

Anne, who is Tesco’s community champion, said: “People are always asking when the car boots are starting up again.

They really missed them last year and I’ve had to look into the safest way to do it under Covid-19 restrictions so this is the first.”
