Dumfries beautician delighted to return to work in latest phases of coronavirus lockdown easing

Beautician Johanna Pollock is buzzing to be back at work this week.

Beauticians were given the green light to resume treatments from Wednesday.

Many salons are booked out for the next month.

Johanna, who runs The Therapy Rooms in Dumfries, told the Standard: “We are doing everything by appointment just now and I had a full day booked on Wednesday when we reopened.”

It has been a welcome return to work for Johanna and her team at the Castle Street salon after an unexpectedly long break.

She said: “It was quite a tough time. Obviously when we closed the doors we didn’t expect it to be for so long but we have just been buzzing to be back.”

She added: “Eyebrows have probably been one of the most popular treatments since we reopened and we’ve got all the safety measures in place, including screens at reception and the nail station.

“We are using disposable gloves and aprons alongside our masks and visors and we are using disposable files and buffers, one for each client.”

Despite the challenges the measures present, Johanna is just pleased to be back: “It’s tough working with the masks and visors but if nurses and others had to do it we will too if it gets us back to work and keeps everyone safe.”
