Dumfries and Galloway sees 10 new coronavirus cases since start of September

Ten new coronavirus cases have been recorded in Dumfries and Galloway since the start of September.

And the region has experienced its biggest increase in cases in a single day for more than two months.

The latest Scottish Government figures show that the number of people testing positive for Covid-19 in Dumfries and Galloway has risen from 313 on August 31 to 323 on September 9.

One new case was reported on September 1, one on Saturday, three more on Sunday and a further four on Tuesday.

That was the largest number of new cases to be reported in a single day since June 30. A further positive test was confirmed on Wednesday.

NHS Dumfries and Galloway’s weekly update reveals there have been no deaths linked to coronavirus in the region since May, with the number of people being claimed by the virus remaining at 44.

Across Scotland, 21,878 people have now tested positive for coronavirus since the pandemic began – 159 of them since Tuesday.

A total of 2,499 cross the country have died.
