Dumfries and Galloway's over-50s urged to book flu and coronavirus vaccines

The region’s over-50s are being urged to arrange their flu and coronavirus vaccines.

The online booking system is now open with jags being adminstered from Tuesday.

Vaccinations will provide people with the highest possible level of protection this winter.

Director of public health Valerie White said: “Just like we get our flu jag every year because protection fades and the virus changes, the same is true with Covid-19.

“You may have already had Covid-19 and thought ‘that wasn’t too bad’ but that’s far from any guarantee that it will be the same next time – especially if it’s a different variant and you haven’t prepared your body’s defences with a jag.

“It’s therefore really important that everyone eligible gets their flu and Covid-19 jags this winter to help protect themselves, loved ones and help take some strain away from the region’s key public services.”

Appointment times won’t be sent out to people aged between 50 and 64. They should book online at https://vacs.nhs.scot/csp, or phone 01387 403090, or 0800 030 8013.
