The region’s first E-Cargo Bike delivery service is now up and running in Dumfries.
And one of its first missions was to deliver Easter eggs to the Cash for Kids appeal at the town’s Morrisons with Naomi Fisher at the handlebars.
The special bike – designed to reduce carbon emissions – is capable of transporting a 200kg at a time and has a 620 litre capacity.
It is already turning heads in the town.
GalloGlas Group, a company based at Heathhall Industrial Estate which is helping businesses in the region reduce their carbon footprint to meet government requirements, has linked with the Scottish Transport Energy Savings Trust for a study on the bike’s usage.
Campbell Young, director of operations at GalloGlas – which also provide training on carbon emission reduction and training for businesses and has a team of cleaners using its own-brand eco-friendly products at places around the town – said: “We are thrilled to have the electric bike which is going to make a huge difference to carbon emissions and we are delighted that we were able to source it locally from Powerbikes in Dumfries.”
He said it will be used by the company for its own environmental work but can be used by other businesses and charities.
