Motorists are to be hit with two weeks of roadworks next month.
The “essential maintenance” is to be carried out on the A76 between Kirkconnel Activities Resource Centre and Polneul Cottage from Monday, March 7, until Monday, March 21 between the hours of 7pm and 6am each night.
Amey is carrying out the work on behalf of Transport Scotland as part of the network management contract for the South-West Trunk Road Unit.
For safety reasons it will be carried out with total overnight closures and signed diversion routes will be put up to help drivers negotiate their journeys.
The installation of single lane working day-time temporary traffic lights may also be required to allow the surface material to cool. Access through the works will be available for emergency services.
A spokesman for Amey said: “We thank road users and residents for their patience while this essential maintenance is under way.
“Our operatives will follow strict physical distancing and hygiene protocols throughout the programme, in line with the Scottish Government’s Covid-19 guidance.”
He added that all work projects are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if conditions are poor.
A free road work alerts service is available from: https://swtrunkroads.scot/roadwork-alerts/ and an email address is all that is required to sign up for the service. To report a problem on the network visit: https://swtrunkroads.scot/report-a-problem/
