Dumfries and Galloway motorists warned over roadworks misery on A75 near Castle Douglas

Motorists are bracing themselves for three days of roadworks misery on the A75 near Castle Douglas next week.

Resurfacing work is set to take place on a 1.5km stretch at Bush o’Bields and a 1km section between Springholm and South Park.

The work will take place on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday next week and Amey will carry it out under a daytime convoy.

Workers will follow strict physical distancing protocols.

Assistant planned maintenance manager Alan Murray said: “It is vital that we complete these works in order to maintain road safety.

This is an important section of the trunk road network
and, as such, is used by emergency services, freight, retail and delivery traffic as part of their essential working.

“This short programme will be carried out under daytime convoy working in order to reduce the impact on communities as they recover at this
time.

“Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, would like to take this opportunity to thank our customers for their patience while we deliver this important improvement project.”

Drivers are advised to allow additional time for their journeys.
