Dumfries and Galloway Cyclists enjoy success in British Team Time Trial Championships

Cyclists from Dumfries and Galloway had a successful outing in the British Team Time Trial Championships.

It was the first time Studio Velo had been represented in a team trial and, from its small pool of talented amateurs, Castle Douglas duo Gavin Shirley and Mark Skilling joined forces with Gavin Church.

It was the first time the championships had been held in Scotland and the team took little more than an hour to complete the 31.5 mile course in Irvine. An average speed of 29.8mph saw the team finish 15th.

This was a great achievement as it was the first time the team had ridden together and they were up against a star studded field. The overall winners had recently competed in the Tour of Slovenia against Tour de France competitors, recording an average speed of 35mph.

Located in Castle Douglas, Studio Velo is a state of the art bike shop owned by former Commonwealth Games cyclist Gareth Montgomerie.
