Dumfries and Galloway coronavirus update for Tuesday, March 16

There have been no new coronavirus cases reported in Dumfries and Galloway for the first time in six months.

The latest figures from the Scottish Government show the total for the region remains at 4,091.

It is the first time since September 7 there has been no increase to the figure.

The number of people in hospital remains at seven, with less than five people in intensive care.

Across Scotland, there were 597 new cases, taking the total to 210,605.

There are currently 440 people in hospital with 42 in intensive care.

1,943,507 people have received their first vaccination and 170,892 have received their second.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon is due to announce plans to ease lockdown restrictions at Holyrood this afternoon.
