Dumfries and Galloway coronavirus update for Tuesday, April 6

Dumfries and Galloway saw no new coronavirus cases over the Easter weekend.

The last reported case was a single positive result on Thursday, April 1. Since then, the total has remained at 4,137.

There are currently less than five people being treated in hospital.

The positivity rate for Dumfries and Galloway stands at 1.3 per 100,000 people, giving a seven day positivity rate of 0.1. The Scottish figures are 49.1 and 2.2 per cent respectively.

87,657 people in Dumfries and Galloway have received their first dose of the vaccine, equivalent to 69.8 per cent of the population. 30,817 people 24.5 per cent - have received their second dose.

Across Scotland, there were 259 new cases today with 196 people in hospital.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon revealed today that virtually all secondary school pupils will return to classes after the Easter holidays.
