Dumfries and Galloway coronavirus update for Thursday, February 25

The number of people being treated in the region's hospitals for coronavirus is at its lowest level for two months.

The latest figures show there are just six people in hospital, compared to 10 yesterday.

It's the lowest figure since Christmas Eve. There are currently less than five people being treated in intensive care.

An additional five positive coronavirus tests have been returned in the past 24 hours.

It takes the total for the region since the start of the pandemic to 4,022.

Across Scotland, there were 769 new cases, taking the overall total to 200,406.

There are 967 people in hospital and 89 in intensive care.

A further 31 people have died, taking the overall figure to 7,084.

As of this morning, 1,515,980 people across the country had received their first dose of the vaccine, with 56,661 having received their second.
