Dumfries and Galloway coronavirus update for Monday, March 8

Just one new coronavirus case has been reported in Dumfries and Galloway in the past 24 hours

That takes the total number of cases since the pandemic began to 4,061, with four new cases on both Saturday and Sunday

It means the region now has one of the lowest positivity rates in mainland Scotland at 0.7 per cent. The rate per 100,000 people is now 13.4, higher than only Shetland and Orkney.

There are currently seven people in hospital with less than five in intensive care.

More than 63,000 people in the region - more than half the population - has received their first dose of the vaccine .

And nearly 6,000 people - 4.6 per cent - have received their second.

Across Scotland there were 501 new cases today. There 654 in hospital with 59 in intensive care.
