Dumfries and Galloway coronavirus update for Monday, March 15

There have been two new coronavirus cases across Dumfries and Galloway in the past 24 hours.

With five on Saturday and one on Sunday, it takes the total since the pandemic began to 4,091.

There are currently seven people being treated in the region's hospitals with less than five in intensive care.

Across Scotland, there were a further 456 positive tests, taking the total to 210,008.

There are currently 447 people in hospital and 40 in intensive care.

By this morning, 1,908,991 had received their first dose of the vaccine and 161,945 their second.

Today saw pupils in P4-P7 return to classes for the first time since the Christmas holidays. Students in S4 to S6 are also back and there is a part-time return for S1 to S3.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon is due to unveil more details of lockdown easing tomorrow.
