Dumfries and Galloway coronavirus figures for Thursday, October 29

A further nine people have tested positive for coronavirus in Dumfries and Galloway in the past 24 hours.

It means there have now been 840 cases in the region since the pandemic began in March.

There have been 107 cases this week with 429 since the start of October.

There are currently 10 people being treated in the region's hospitals.

The region is set to be placed into level two of the Scottish Government's new tiered system of restrictions.

It means that, from Monday, hospitality businesses will be able to serve alcohol indoors if accompanied by a main meal.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has revealed there have been a further 1,128 cases of coronavirus in Scotland in the past 24 hours, taking the national figure to 61,531.

There are 1,152 people in hospital with 86 in intensive care.

An additional 37 people have died, taking the total to 2,791.
