The region has seen its highest single day increase in positive coronavirus tests for more than a month.
A further 13 people have tested positive in the past 24 hours, taking the total in the region since the start of the pandemic to 1,236.
The last time there were as many new cases in one day was November 13.
There have been 93 cases since the start of December, with 36 in the past week.
Across Scotland, there have been a further 858 cases in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 109,296.
There are 1,012 people in hospital with 50 in intensive care.
A further 30 people have died, taking the total to 4,203.
