Dumfries and Galloway coronavirus figures for Thursday, December 10

A further six positive coronavirus tests have been confirmed in the past 24 hours.

It takes the number of people in Dumfries and Galloway to have contracted the virus since the start of the pandemic to 1,200.

Of that figure, 53 cases have been in December. There are currently seven people in the region's hospital.

Dumfries and Galloway is due to move into level one of the Scottish Government's coronavirus restriction system at 6pm on Friday and the mass vaccination programme began on Tuesday.

But the region's health board has ramped up testing in Upper Nithsdale after a spike of cases in the area.

Nationally, there were a further 933 positive tests in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 103,305.

There are now 984 patients in hospital - 12 more than yesterday - with 52 in intensive care.

A further 50 people have died, with the total now at 4,039.
