Dumfries and Galloway coronavirus figures for Monday, January 11

A further 267 people in Dumfries and Galloway have tested positive for coronavirus over the past few days.

It takes the total since the pandemic began to 2,784, with 1,079 cases since the start of 2021.

There were 105 cases on Saturday with a further 109 on Sunday and 53 today.

The number of people in hospital is now 45, with 11 in intensive care.

Dumfries and Galloway now has one of the highest infection rates in the country and on Friday the health board took the suspension to suspend some hospital surgeries.

In Scotland, there were a further 1,782 cases today, taking the total to 151,548.

There are currently 1,664 people in hospital and 126 in intensive care.

A further 97 deaths have been confirmed since Friday, taking the total to 4,969.

The Scottish Football Association has announced today that all football below Championship level has been suspended for the rest of the month.

It means Queen of the South will be able to carry on playing but Annan Athletic, Stranraer and clubs in the Lowland and South of Scotland Leagues are not allowed to continue.
