Dumfries and Galloway Cash for Kids Easter Egg appeal receives more than 16,00 donations

More than 1,600 chocolate eggs were donated by the public to this year’s Cash for Kids Easter Egg Appeal across the region.

They are being distributed by various agencies to underprivileged children via Dumfries and Galloway Council Social Work, shielding service, Dumfries Activity and Resource Centre, Oasis Youth Centre, Thornhill Food Bank, Wigtownshire Women’s Aid, Locharbriggs Village Hall, Kirkconnell and Kelloholm Development Trust, Grub Club, D&G LIFT, Lochside, and Dumfries and Stewartry Women’s Aid.

Collection points were: Morrisons, Holiday Inn Dumfries, Farmfit, Robinsons, SP Energynetworks, D&G Chamber of Commerce, DGRI, James Hallam Insurance Brokers, Armstrong Group, Bouldover Climbing Centre, Annan, Keltbray Distribution and Transmission.

Dumfries’ Kenny Bowie, an ambassador for Cash for Kids in the region said: “It is great to see so many local businesses working together to benefit so many local children.

“Thank you to all the businesses and everyone who donated eggs.”

Myra Smith, community champion at Morrisons said: “It was a great joint community engagement.”
