Dumbfounded man can't get his head around women having periods at night

Ah, menstrual cycles.

For how much longer will they be a source of controversy and mystery?

If it's not some random bloke "calculating" how many tampons a woman needs per cycle (this just in: no one asked you), it's another man suggesting it's 'nonsense' that people can't afford sanitary towels.

However, the latest instalment in men learning about periods is actually not that offensive at all, just a little naive.

Twitter user Farah was having a conversation with a male friend and wrote:

Bombshell alert (@farahgamo/Twitter)

Man branded 'monster' for 'disgusting' act involving McDonald's chicken nuggets

"I woke up in period blood which is always fun!"

"How does that even happen?" he replied.

"Umm... I got my period overnight??" Farah said.

His indignant response was: "You're really expecting me to know how periods work... that's kinda crazy."

Eventually Farah got to heart of the confusion:

Sperm facial could be the key to fighting wrinkles and getting a youthful glow

"I meant I didn't know it was possible to get it overnight," the man added, "That's it."

Farah had the perfect riposte: "How would it only happen during the day? You think our uterus waits for us to wake up?"

But her friend wasn't done yet, as he then asked: "Cause the body shuts down during sleep?"

Since sharing the...endearing exchange, Farah has got a lot of attention - and not all of it good.

Easy mistake to make? (@farahgamo/Twitter)

Dad wins 15 year prank battle with daughter thanks to mid-air stroke of genius

Speaking to Metro, she explained: "Most people laughed with me while some insulted me saying I'm a b***h and should've educated him."

"But really if you're 24 and have got no semblance of an idea how women's menstrual cycles work that's your conscious decision to be ignorant!"
