A vicious killer who butchered a teenage mum and dumped her body parts died in hospital days after he was found slumped in his prison cell.
Michael McArthur was serving life for the murder of Amy Anderson when he passed away 18 years after being jailed for life.
Amy was just 19-years-old when she met a horrific end at the hands of the drifter on waste ground near the River Leven in Alexandria. He dismembered her body, and her torso was later found on the banks of the river in May 2002.

The 76-year-old suffered a catalogue of health failures while behind bars and was serving his sentence at HMP Prison Dumfries when a prison nurse became concerned and he was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary on April 7, 2022.
A Fatal Accident Inquiry heard the medic noted McArthur was unsteady on his feet when she gave him his morning medication.
Later the same day a prison officer carrying out checks noted him "slumped over his bed and moaning incoherently", he went on to complain about a sore head and feeling unwell.
When he was later admitted to hospital and died on April 11, and a post mortem found sepsis, liver cirrhosis and type 2 diabetes among the causes of his death.
The inquiry held at Dumfries Sheriff Court found that prison staff and medics took all reasonable steps and nothing could have been done to prevent McArthur's death.
Amy was a college student and gave birth to a baby girl when she was 18. But, she became addicted to heroin and ended up on the streets.
During McArthur's trial he claimed to have become a "father figure" to the young woman and let her sleep in the derelict container where he lived in Alexandria. He also claimed she was pregnant at the time.
Jurors were told that Amy was suffocated, dissected and her body parts burned before being dumped.
Her pelvis was found in 2003 in a pond near the river, but her head, arms and legs have never been recovered.
