Dumbarton star Kayla back at school after Greatest Dancer final

A Dumbarton dancing star was back in school yesterday, just 48 hours after competing in the final of a hit BBC show.

Kayla Wotherspoon, 11, a pupil at Dumbarton’s St Patrick’s Primary in Dumbarton, was part of the Dancepoint team that made it to the final of ‘The Greatest Dancer’.

Although they missed out on winning the competition, dad Craig could not have been any more pleased with her.

He said: “I really couldn’t be prouder. I went down to watch it live and, although she was maybe a little bit nervous at first, the whole group were just buzzing to be there.

“I think she was a wee bit disappointed not to get to the second dance stage but they’ve done so well to get to the final and she knows that.”

Despite being a TV star, Kayla was back behind her desk on Monday morning.

Craig continued: “I think she’ll miss the TV work and getting to showcase her talents on such a big stage.

“It might take a while to get her back down to earth.”

Despite her talents, a full-time career as a dancer is not Kayla’s goal.

Craig added: “She’s really bright and wants to be an architect but, with a taste of the TV stuff, maybe that will change.”
