Dumbarton school suffers water damage following flooding at the weekend

Council bosses have allayed parents’ fears that a Dumbarton school will not reopen on time.

Braehead Primary suffered water damage after Friday’s torrential downpour.

But despite suffering some structural damage, West Dunbartonshire Council say pupils will still be back on time.

A spokeswoman for the authority, said: "The severe weather on Friday evening resulted in some water ingress to an area within Braehead Primary.

"We have had staff on site since Saturday morning to repair the roof and replace a carpet and lighting, and the school will be open as normal to pupils on Monday."
