Dumbarton's biggest school nominated for Secondary School of the Year prize

Dumbarton’s biggest school has been recognised for the “special” achievement of being nominated for secondary school of the year.

The Lennox Herald reported last month how Our Lady and St Patrick’s High had been shortlisted in this year’s Times Education Supplement awards.

And education convener Karen Conaghan wished them well this week.

She said: “Our schools have faced one of the most challenging academic years ever, so to make this shortlist in these exceptional circumstances is even more special.”

The educational awards celebrates the extraordinary commitment, quality and innovation shown by teachers and school staff across the UK.

Previously recognised as a school of ambition, the school was shortlisted for its academic results with many pupils going on to university. This is despite the fact that it dropped in the recently published school league tables from 63rd to 177th nationally.
