Police Scotland Youth Volunteers (PSYV) from Dumbarton welcomed Scotland’s national clinical director Jason Leitch to a virtual question and answer session last week.
There was no shortage of questions for Professor Leitch on topics such as the pandemic, his career, coping with pressure, preparing for briefings and even his favourite music.
The online event was part of a series of ‘In conversation with’ sessions where an invited guest joins the local PSYV weekly meeting.
Since the first session in October where divisional commander Chief Superintendent John Paterson answered questions, the groups have had a variety of speakers, with the professor opening up on his role during the pandemic.

PSYV group coordinator, PC Dale Logsdon, said “We know that he is exceptionally busy so we are really grateful to Professor Leitch for joining our PSYV session.
“The young people thoroughly enjoyed asking him questions and he gave them lots of advice as well as a fascinating insight into his role as national clinical director.
“We recently sent Professor Leitch one of our 2021 desk calendars and the young people were delighted he had it on display.
“Our fantastic volunteers may not be able to get together in person for meetings but they haven’t let that stop them supporting each other and volunteering in our communities.
“In recent months they have counted their steps during their permitted exercise to raise money for a Christmas toy appeal and also recorded a session for hospital radio.”
