Motorists in Dumbarton and the Vale face more roads chaos over the coming months with the closure of a stretch of the A813 Stirling Road.
The road, which is the main route from Bonhill to the A82 and Dumbarton, will be closed between the Lionsgate roundabout and Strathleven Drive roundabout.
Some drivers in Bonhill will face a three-mile detour, crossing the River Leven at Bridge Street and going through Renton to reach the A82 or get into Dumbarton.
The closure comes into place from Monday, August 12 while Scottish Power undertakes upgrading works.
They are expected to be completed within four weeks with the road scheduled to reopen on Sunday, September 22.
The northbound exit road between the Vale of Leven Industrial Estate road and the A813 will also be closed for its entire length during this time.
West Dunbartonshire Council say that restrictions will only be implemented when required and where indicated by signs rather than the full extent and times of the four-week period.
The works are due to start just days after Glasgow Road in Dumbarton Road is due to reopen to traffic.
Work has been ongoing since May 7 to upgrade the gas network there.
Further information on the A813 closure, including diversion routes, is available at: west-dunbarton.gov.uk/a813 .
A spokeswoman for Scottish Power confirmed the road will be closed for around four weeks from August 12 however there will be temporary traffic lights in place on the road from July 15.
She explained the works involved upgrading underground cables and added: “We work closely with the roads department to keep disruption to a minimum.”
