Dumbarton man to stand trial charged with assaulting and robbing OAP

A man is to stand trial charged with seriously assaulting and robbing an 85-year-old woman in her own home.

Kevin McCallum faced the accusation during a short hearing at the High Court in Glasgow on Wednesday last week.

The 42-year-old is charged with breaking into the pensioner’s home in Dumbarton in April this year.

It is claimed he assaulted the OAP to her severe injury, permanent impairment and to the danger of her life.

Prosecutors also allege he robbed her of a thimble and a parasol.

McCallum faces a separate charge of stealing shortbread biscuits from the home of a Clydebank man in February this year.

His QC Thomas Ross and the advocate depute confirmed a trial could be set.

Lord Beckett fixed a trial for December. The case could last three days.
