Dumbarton man Bill 'can't wait' to see wife of 70 years after receiving first covid jab

As Greater Glasgow residents over the age of 80s continue to receive their first covid vaccinations, one man has said receiving his jab will allow him to be reunited with his wife.

Bill Campbell received his first dose of the vaccine in the Dumbarton and Alexandria region today, meaning he will soon be able to see his wife Agnes, who lives in a care home.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) shared the heartwarming story, explaining that the couple had been married for almost 70 years, with Bill saying he "can't wait" to be reunited with his wife."

A statement from NHSGGC reads: "A big shout out to Bill Campbell, and all the other over 80s patients who got their 1st COVID vaccinations in Dumbarton & Alexandria today.

"Bill says he can’t wait to see his wife Agnes, who lives in a care home – after all they’ve been married for almost 70 years.

"Well done and stay safe!"

Earlier this week, NHSGGC confirmed that all eligible care home residents across the area have now been offered their first vaccination to protect them against COVID-19.

From all of us at Glasgow Live, we say a huge congratulations to Bill and hope he and Agnes are reunited very soon!
