Dumbarton fires - police launch appeal for witnesses after spate of deliberate blazes

Police are appealing for information after a spate of deliberate fires near a Dumbarton industrial estate.

The first incident happened last Sunday, at around 8.55pm, when a Fiat Doblo was set alight while parked outside the Brock Bowling Club.

Around the same time that evening a fire was set nearby in Jewsons Builders Yard on Overburn Avenue, causing damage to stock.

On Thursday, July 18, two more blazes were set at Jewsons and at Ferguson Flooring on Ash Road, Dumbarton.

All of these were distinguished and no one was injured.

Detective Constable Russell Campbell is appealing for information. He said “Our enquiries are continuing into each of these incidents to establish who is responsible for setting these fires. For the information gathered so far, we are linking these incidents.

“I would ask anyone who was in these areas around the times stated who witnessed anything suspicious, or anyone with information that may assist our enquiries to contact Clydebank Police Office through 101 quoting 4307 of 14th July 2019. Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
