Dumbarton FC remain in League One despite home defeat

Dumbarton FC have cemented their place in League One despite defeat at the C&G Systems Stadium tonight (Thursday).

Sons came away from Monday’s first leg of the playoff final against Edinburgh City with the upper hand, winning 3-1.

And taking the advantage home in front of fans at the Rock, it was hoped they would build on that display.

But it was Edinburgh City who managed to break the deadlock on the night, scoring on 52 minutes through Ouzy See.

The visitors were then reduced to 10 men just six minutes later as Liam Henderson received a second yellow for diving.

Adam Frizzell had a late chance to put daylight between the sides but his effort was saved.

Dumbarton managed to hang on to victory with an aggregate score of 3-2 meaning they will remain in League One for season 2021/22.
