Dumbarton couple mark 60 years of marriage

Dumbarton couple Betty and Charlie Hannaway marked their diamond wedding anniversary with a party alongside family and friends earlier this
month.

Wed on April 4, 1959 at St Michael’s in the town, their reception was held at the Dumbuck Hotel.

The couple, both born in Dumbarton and who have lived in the town all of their lives, have four children: Charles, David, Joan and May and four grandchildren: Rosalind, Rhonan, Daniel and Liam as well as two great-grandchildren Orlah and Leo.

Charlie started working life in Claude Alexander’s shop on Dumbarton High Street before later working at the Polaroid factory until his retirement.

Betty had various jobs including usherette in one of Dumbarton’s cinemas, as well as working in various shops in the town.

Her final job was working as a home help.

They lived in Bellsmyre for most of their married life, bringing up their family there, before moving to Church Court in 2015.
