Dumbarton band prepare for first gig of 2019

Dumbarton-based band Red Hearted Vibrations are preparing for their first gig of 2019 this weekend.

The six-piece will perform at the Hug and Pint on Glasgow’s Great Western Road for the first time since lead singer Laura Nelson had her first baby.

The band will be launching their new single The Day You Tried to Save Me on the night.

The pop/rock outfit was founded in Dumbarton in 2017.

Lifelong friends Steven Nelson and Craig White formed the band as an excuse to see more of each other and return to writing music together.

After six months of writing, Steven’s sister Laura Nelson joined the band on vocals and Craig’s brother Graham White joined the band on bass.

This tight unit continued to work on their sound for another six months before deciding to record their debut single Circles. Following its release, the song received national airplay and featured on Jim Gellatly’s radio playlist which led to the band being offered their first gig, headlining at Glasgow’s famous King Tuts.

They released their second single The Girl Who Done No Wrong before taking a short break from gigging and writing to allow Laura time off to become a mum.

During the downtime, the remaining members continued to write new material up until the start of 2019 when the band invited Scott Brown on keyboards and Ewan Driver on guitar to complete the line-up.

Soon after, the band recorded third single The Day You Tried To Save Me which they release on their website on Saturday, April 20.

More details on the band, who will be playing at the Record Factory in Glasgow’s West End in June and Butefest in July, are available at redheartedvibrations.bandcamp.com
