Duke Street robbery: car driven at Dennistoun shop window in attempted break-in

A car was deliberately driven at a beauty salon in Duke Street in an attempted late-night break in.

The House of Aesthetics was targeted at around 11pm on Wednesday, December 16.

Two men in balaclavas got out of the car and attempted to get in to the shop but left empty-handed.

A car was later torched in Grierson Street and enquiries are underway to establish if it was linked to the incident.

Police have launched an appeal for information and urge witnesses to come forward.

Detective Constable Paul Fraser of Shettleston CID said: "Two men were seen to get out of the car and attempt to get into the shop.  We believe they left empty handed. They are described as wearing dark clothing and balaclavas.

“A car was later set on fire in Grierson Street and enquiries are underway to establish if this vehicle was linked to the incident at the shop in Duke Street.

“Officers are reviewing CCTV and carrying out door to door enquiries in effort to identify who was responsible.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time who witnessed anything suspicious, or who has information that will assist this investigation to contact us through 101 quoting reference number 3671 of 16 December.  Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
