Atholl Estates has appointed former Stuart Blues from Gleneagles Hotel as director of finance.
Blues will manage a team of six, oversee the finances of Blair Castle , the campsite, caravan park and the estate, and work on new commercial ventures.
He has extensive experience of the tourism and hospitality sector having been part of the senior management team at Gleneagles for more than three years. He has also been a audit manager at accountants Johnston Carmichael advising businesses in sectors including building societies and biotechnology.
Chief executive Andrew Bruce-Wooton said: “We are extremely pleased to have Stuart join the senior management team. He brings a wealth of experience from both a finance and tourism perspective and will be a key player in supporting and delivering the future growth plans for the estate.”
Blair Castle and Gardens dates back to 1269 and offers accommodation from the new Woodland Lodges to camping pods. From May 24-26, it hosts the Atholl Highlander Weekend when the Duke of Atholl carries out an annual inspection of the only 90-strong private army in Europe. It stages the Blair Castle Horse Trials on August 22-25.
