Duke of Wellington statue gets makeover in tribute to Lewis Capaldi

The Duke of Wellington statue has had a cheeky facelift... And it's paying tribute to man of the moment Lewis Capaldi.

The famous statue outside the Gallery of Modern Art was sporting its usual traffic cone hat – with two on the horse for good measure – but this time it had a mask of the Bathgate singer attached to the front.

The stunt also happened in May last year, with his face stuck on to the head of the statue.

It seems the Capaldi fever still hasn't died down after Lewis played two sell-out shows at the SSE Hydro last week.

Fans enjoyed an impromptu street party after the show on Friday as they danced along to a remix of Someone You Loved, with a little help from a street DJ.

The singer/songwriter offered his fans a heartfelt thank you on social media after the second gig, pointing out his stratospheric rise in just a few years.

He said: "From less than 100 of ya to over 14,000 of us...in less than 3 years!!!!! First ever UK arena show. Will never ever forget that, thank u all so much."
