Duffy has shared an update on Instagram, suggesting she has released new music for people on lockdown due to the coronavirus.
The singer posted almost a month after revealing in a public statement that she was raped, drugged and held captive over several days at some point in her past.
In doing so, she broke a long silence. Her most recent studio album dates back to 10 years.
The new update, posted on Thursday, is addressed to BBC Radio 2 presenter Jo Whiley.
“Hi Jo (Whiley), hope you are well and keeping safe,” Duffy wrote. “Wanted to send you this to play on the radio, if you want.”
She added: “Universal Music & no one knows I am doing this. They won’t be mad, they are lovely people.
“So here’s a song ... here’s ‘Something Beautiful’. It’s just something for you to play people on radio during these troubling times, if you like the song of course. If it lifts spirits.
“I don’t plan to release it, I just thought a little something might be nice for people if they are at home, on lockdown.”
Duffy also referred to her previous update from a few weeks ago, saying she feels “freer” after sharing her story.
“Tried to follow up with a spoken interview, but it’s harder than I thought,” she added. “I will follow up in writing soon.”
