Duffy breaks silence for first time since telling fans she was 'raped, drugged and held captive for days'

Duffy  has broken her silence after telling fans that she was drugged and raped for days after being held captive.

The 35-year-old singer shocked the music world last month and said she would be giving an interview about the ordeal.

However, three weeks after making the initial announcement on the Instagram page, the singer has changed her plan.

Taking to Instagram page tonight, she shared a blank white image and wrote: "Hi Jo (Whiley)

"Hope you are well and keeping safe.

"Wanted to send you this to play on the radio, if you want.

"You may have read the words I wrote a few weeks back, I do feel freer. Tried to follow up with a spoken interview, but it’s harder than I thought, I will follow up in writing soon.

"Universal Music, no one, knows I am doing this. They won’t be mad, they are lovely people. So here’s a song … here’s “Something Beautiful”. It’s just something for you to play people on radio during these troubling times, if you like the song of course. If it lifts spirits.

"I don’t plan to release it, I just thought a little something might be nice for people if they are at home, on lockdown.

Duffy tells fans she was raped and held captive for days in brave Instagram post

The post which told fans how she had been drugged, raped and held captive for a number of days has now been removed from her page, and only this new one in visible.

It's not known when the despicable attack took place, but Duffy said she has been working to recover from it for a long time.

It also explains her absence from the limelight in recent years.

The post revealing her trauma came just a few weeks after Duffy told  fans  hinted on social media that she may return to music in 2020.
