Due to coronavirus threat, winnings can no longer be claimed at Florida Lottery offices

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. _ The games are continuing, but people who win $600 or more from the Florida Lottery will have to claim their winnings by mail or wait for offices around the state to reopen.

As of Monday, Florida Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee and its nine district offices around the state are closed to the public, "to help protect our employees and players during the COVID-19 outbreak," the agency announced.

People with a prize-winning lottery ticket that exceeds $600 can either mail them to a lottery office to make their claim or wait for the state offices to reopen.

Additionally, the lottery has extended all ticket claim deadlines by 90 days _ giving players the option to hold on to winning tickets and wait to claim their prizes when the lottery offices reopen.
