Duddingston Park South RTC: Edinburgh dad said partner was rushed to hospital after 'crash with kids'

A dad who was involved in a crash today (August 3) on a busy Edinburgh road told how his partner was rushed to Edinburgh’s Royal Infirmary.

Ambulance, fire, and police teams raced to the crossroads of Duddingston Park South shortly after 3pm following reports of a collision involving at least two vehicles, with one car mounting the pavement near an electrical box.

Police have confirmed that one person has been charged in connection with careless driving.

A man at the smash told Edinburgh Live how his partner and children were in the vehicle which was heading in the direction of Fort Kinnaird when the crash occurred.

His partner was rushed to the hospital as a precaution but the children remained unharmed by the collision.

Speaking to Edinburgh Live shortly after the crash he said: “I was driving in the direction of Fort Kinnaird with my partner and kids.

“My partner is in the hospital but I think she is ok.”

When Edinburgh Live arrived at the scene the traffic lights were turned off and engineers were working on a roadside electrical box.

A Council spokesperson said: "It would not be appropriate to comment on a matter under investigation. However, we can confirm that officers are working to repair the traffic lights.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers attended at Duddingston Park South in Edinburgh after reports of a crash involving two vehicles at 2.40pm on Tuesday, August 3.

"Two people were taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.

"One driver has been charged in connection with careless driving. The road is now re-opened.”
