Six eastern spot-billed ducklings were spotted swimming and waddling along with their parents on the grounds of Canon Inc.'s headquarters, where they hatched this summer, in Ota Ward, Tokyo.
The company is working to preserve biodiversity and has created a green space on its grounds called Shimomaruko Forest. Many wild birds, including long-tailed tits, Japanese bush warblers and blue rock thrushes, can be seen inhabiting the green space because of its close proximity to the Tama River.
Eastern spot-billed ducks were first spotted in the pond in Shimomaruko Forest more than a decade ago. This year, six ducklings hatched between late July and mid-August, which is later than usual.
