Duck survives being shot through head with crossbow bolt

A duck was found shot through the head with a crossbow bolt. Police shared a photo of the bird following the attack - but said it is "safe and well". A concerned passer-by raised the alarm after spotting the bird. It has been checked over by wildlife charities, Birmingham Live reports.

People in the area have been warned not to attempt to catch the duck. Experts said attempts to remove the arrow would likely result in its death. Police in Telford said: "We have had a call from a concerned member of the community about our duck with the cross bow bolt in its head. Please be assured this duck is safe and well, please do not attempt to catch him.

"Local wildlife charities have been to assess and they are not concerned. Wildlife experts have advised that attempts to remove the arrow would highly likely cause death, therefore it is being monitored whilst it is managing. Several requests were made for information to try and identify the offenders at the time."
