Sarah Ferguson has sold her Belgravia townhouse for an undisclosed sum after receiving an offer from her tenant.
The Duchess of York bought the London mews house in 2022 for £4.25million as an investment property for her daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.
According to The Telegraph, Land Registry documents show the princesses were required to give written consent for the sale.
Sarah’s spokesman James Henderson said: “[She] wasn’t looking to sell it... She was asked by the tenant to buy it and it seemed like a good time to sell. It’s an investment property for her girls and so the monies will be reinvested accordingly.”
The property was sold within the past two months, though the final sum is not yet known as Land Registry documents are still being processed.
The mews house was previously part of the Duke of Westminster’s Grosvenor Estate before the Duchess bought it.
The news of the sale emerged just a week after news of an email Sarah sent Jeffrey Epstein in 2011, in which she "humbly apologised" for denouncing him in public after his child sexual abuse convictions.
She went on to call Epstein her "steadfast, generous and supreme friend" and that "I know you feel hellaciously let down by me".
Mr Henderson said earlier this week that Sarah was under "huge pressure" and contacted Epstein as she was seeking to protect her family.
He said: "People don't understand how terrible Epstein was. I can remember everything about that call.
"It was a chilling call and I'm surprised anybody was ever friends with him given the way he talked to me.
"He said he would destroy the York family and he was quite clear on that. He said he would destroy me. He wasn't shouting.
"He had a Hannibal Lecter-type voice. It was very cold and calm and really menacing and nasty."
He went on: "The pressure she was put under to protect her family must have been huge. I am sure there were legal actions.
"And this was long before the Duke's life had been ruined by his association with Epstein. It was 14 years ago and everyone will do what they have to do to protect their family. Her family and children will always come first for her."
Following news of the email, Teenage Cancer Trust cut ties with Sarah after a partnership of 35 years, while others followed suit including Cotswolds children's hospice Julia's House, Prevent Breast Cancer, The Natasha Allergy Research Foundation, the National Foundation for Retired Service Animals and The British Heart Foundation.
Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew currently reside in the £30million Royal Lodge estate. The Duke and Duchess of York were facing pressure from the King to leave Royal Lodge until November last year when it emerged they had raised the funds to remain at the £30m estate.
