Duchess of Cornwall says Prince Philip is 'slightly improving' in hospital

The Duchess of Cornwall has issued an update on Prince Philip's health during an engagement on Wednesday.

The Queen's 99-year-old husband has been in hospital for just over two weeks now.

He was moved from the private King Edward VII Hospital in central London to St Bartholomew's Hospital for specialised treatment on a pre-existing heart condtion.

In a brief update on the Duke's health, Camilla told fans her father-in-law is "slightly improving" in hospital.

The Duchess was carrying out an engagement at a community vaccination centre.

On Monday, officials said Prince Philip has been transferred to St Bartholomew’s Hospital for treatment for an infection and testing and observation for a pre-existing heart condition.

The Palace said on Monday in a brief statement: “The Duke of Edinburgh was today transferred from King Edward VII’s Hospital to St Bartholomew’s Hospital where doctors will continue to treat him for an infection, as well as undertake testing and observation for a pre-existing heart condition.

“The Duke remains comfortable and is responding to treatment but is expected to remain in hospital until at least the end of the week.”

In June 2013, he spent 11 days in hospital after surgery on his abdomen.

The Duke, who is three months away from his 100th birthday, was initially admitted nearly two weeks ago for a few days as a precautionary measure after feeling unwell.
