The Duchess of Cambridge has hinted she will give her first ever public piano performance during a festive carol concert on Chirstmas Eve.
Kate Middleton, 39, could perform solo on an ITV special broadcast at 7.30pm on Friday, called Royal Carols: Together At Christmas.
In a teaser clip released on the Duchess’s Instagram on Friday morning, Kate is seen sitting down at a piano and beginning to play.
The caption read: “Tonight. @ITV. 7:30pm. #TogetherAtChristmas.”
The Duchess can play the piano, having achieved a Grade 3 in the instrument, but this would be the first time she is believed to have performed in public.
The carol service is intended to thank those who have gone above and beyond during the pandemic and to celebrate acts of kindness.
Speaking in a video, Kate said: “We’ve been through such a bleak time. We’ve seen so many challenges.
“We’ve lost our loved ones. We’ve seen our frontline workers under immense pressure. And also we’ve been more emotionally and socially distanced and isolated from each other.
“But I suppose through that separation, we’ve also realised how much we need each other and how acts of kindness and love can really bring us comfort and relief in times of distress”.
The event is being held in Westminster Abbey, where Kate and Prince William married in 2011.
Ahead of the wedding, her piano teacher spoke of how she was a “good” player.
Tutor Daniel Nicholls taught the Duchess to play, along with her mother Carole, sister Pippa, and brother James.
He said at the time: “She was absolutely lovely, a really delightful person to teach the piano”.
Kate and Prince William will be joined at the service by a host of royal family members, including the Countess of Wessex, 55, Princess Beatrice, 33, and Princess Eugenie, 31.
The congregation will have “many inspirational individuals”, with nominations being taken from an array of different organisations.
