Duchess of Cambridge borrows the Queen's Silver Jubilee earrings for A Berry Royal Christmas TV appearance this evening

They say "diamonds are a girl's best friend."

And nobody knows this more than the Duchess of Cambridge, who regularly opts for the jewels to compliment her chic outfits.

For her appearance on A Berry Royal Christmas this evening, Kate Middleton once again borrowed Queen Elizabeth II's earrings, which the 93-year-old monarch first wore to her Silver Jubilee in 1977.

The last time the 37-year-old Duchess sported the vintage earrings was for her first solo engagement in the Netherlands in 2016.

The earrings have similarly been borrowed by Sophie, Countess of Wessex, who last wore them in 2012 while in Luxembourg for the wedding of Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume.

For the BBC special, alongside her husband, Prince William and baker Mary Berry, the Duchess modelled a dress by London-based designer Alessandra Rich.

The red pussy-bow midi dress is from the brand's autumn/winter 2019 collection, is made of 100 per cent silk, and sells for £1,455. It is still available to buy.

In A Berry Royal Christmas, which aired this evening, 84-year-old Berry took to the kitchen alongside the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, while the trio prepared a series of festive treats for charity staff who are working over Christmas.
