Duce Staley to join Lions’ staff as assistant head coach after being passed over for promotion by the Eagles

Times are changing in Philadelphia and on the day that Nick Sirianni touched down at the NovaCare Complex, Tom Pelissero is reporting that Duce Staley will join the Lions staff as the team’s assistant head coach and running backs coach.

Staley will now join Dan Campbell’s staff in Detroit, where he’ll pair with new offensive coordinator, Anthony Lynn, to help usher in a new, physical style of football for the Lions.

Shortly after Sirianni’s hiring became official, Staley asked to be released from his contract, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garofolo. Staley is a former Eagles running back who has been part of Philadelphia’s coaching staff since 2011 and his departure truly usher’s in a new era and regime in the city.
