Duce Staley to assume head coaching role for Eagles after Doug Pederson tests positive for COVID-19

The Philadelphia Eagles have a deep infrastructure of coaching experience on the roster and it’ll be needed after head coach Doug Pederson tested positive for the coronavirus on Sunday.

Pederson informed the team after his second positive test and will lead the ball club from home virtually, while Duce Staley will assume head coaching responsibilities in his place.

Pederson is asymptomatic and feeling fine, according to ESPN’s Tim McManus and he joins Lane Johnson as the only two Eagles to have a positive test so far.

He joins Saints head coach Sean Payton as the only coaches to test positive and will continue to lead the team virtually from home.
