Dubliner wins Halloween with genius Luke Kelly statue costume

A young Dubliner has been hailed for his "brilliant" costume of the Luke Kelly statue that all have agreed has already "won Halloween".

Sheriff Street man Jonathan Quinn has gone viral with his hilariously accurate portrayal of the iconic statue of his area's most famous resident.

Jonathan has previously posted photos on his Facebook page standing beside the statue, cheekily captioning it "twins" due to his thick mop of curly hair being similar to the Dubliners legend's.

The hilarious northsider went one better this evening as he decked himself out as an exact replica and posed beside the statue.

Dying his hair and beard to match Luke's copper tinge, Jonathan managed to wedge his body into a large box to match the plinth Kelly's statue sits on.

And sparing no attention to detail, the talented footballer even opened his mouth to mimic the singing pose of the statue.

The monument has been subjected to repeated graffiti attacks since it was unveiled in January 2019.

Local councillor Christy Burke, who was one of the driving forces behind the commissioning of the statue, told Dublin Live he loved Jonathan's amazing costume.

He said: "It's great to see Luke in the news for good reasons given all the bad that's happened that statue.

"Well done to the community in Sheriff St and young Jonathan Quinn for bring a bright spark to the area."

The costume has quickly gone viral and caught the imagination of delighted Dubs who hailed Joanathan's idea as "brilliant", "amazing" and, of course, "deadly".

Well done Jonathan, Sheriff Street has two legends now because you've absolutely made the city's night.
