Dublin workers earn 15% more than those in other counties, CSO figures reveal

Dublin workers earn 15% more than those in other counties, CSO figures have revealed.

The average annual income in Dublin was €50,801 last year which was higher than the nationwide average of €44,180.

Additionally, it was over 50% higher than the average wages in Donegal at €33,776- the lowest earning county, the Irish Times reports.

Average weekly income across the country were €740 in 2018 which was 3.4% more compared to the year before. 

This has been the strongest level of increase in over 10 years and average earnings have gone up by 9.4% since the lowest point of the crash in 2013.

And workers in the IT fields got paid the most salaries while those in hospitality earned the least.

Those working in information and communications earned €1,244 weekly on average last year- four times the average wages of those working in service and hospitality who got paid €347.64 a week on average.

Last year, a total of 28.7% of workers earned less than €400 per week and those earning between €400 and €800 made up for nearly 40%.

31.9% earned more than €800 per week while 6.5% earned €1,600 or more weekly.
