Dublin woman Becky Lynch set to headline WWE WrestleMania as part of first-ever women's main event

Dublin woman Becky Lynch will be involved in the first ever female WWE WrestleMania main event, it has been revealed.

Lynch, 32, whose real name is Rebecca Quin, will compete with Charlotte Flair and UFC legend Ronda Rousey in the historic match.

WWE announced the news via a press release, saying: "For the first time in WWE history, a women's match will be the main event of WrestleMania.

"The Raw Women's Championship match featuring Ronda Rousey (c) vs. Charlotte Flair vs Becky Lynch will take place on Sunday April 7th in front of a capacity crowd at MetLife Stadium and streaming live on WWE Network around the world."

Baldoyle native Lynch has had a breakout year in 2019, winning the second ever women's Royal Rumble match and earning universal praise for her character work on both Raw   and SmackDown Live .

The world-famous wrestling promotion have been taking an active effort in supporting female athletes recently, airing their first ever all-female pay-per-view event 'Evolution' last October.
