A west Dublin resident was left troubled after she was approached by men in a van offering money in exchange for her dogs.
The disturbing incident happened on Friday evening as Palmerstown woman Siobhan was out for a walk with her son and her two terrier crosses.
She told Dublin Live: "Myself and my son and our two dogs went for a walk over to Waterstown Park and Mill Lane.
"On the way home we crossed at the traffic lights at the Applegreen garage, and I crossed over were The Oval is near were the new house are being built a white van pulled up beside us.
"There were three men- one middle aged and the other two maybe in their 30s-40s.
"One of them said hello, and then he asked would I give him my dogs.
"I said no, he laughed and said, 'I'll give you €600 for one of your dogs, I said, 'I told you no now don't ask me again you won't be getting these dogs'. My son got upset so we just ran up the road
"There were three fellas, in the van."
Siobhan has had her two rescue dogs for eight years and she fears for their safety in the light of the recent spate of dognappings.
She added: "Our dogs are not just pets, they are part of our family and we would be devastated if something happened to them.
"My heart breaks when I see post on Facebook when dogs go missing."
